THE LOCAL STORY
Craigmillar Credit Union opened for business in October 1995. After many months of meetings, training sessions, planning and form filling, the local study group volunteers were given authorisation to proceed from the regulatory body, the Registry of Friendly Societies. This followed a face-to-face meeting with ROFS to satisfy them that the group was properly equipped to take on the considerable task of looking after other peoplešs money.Since that day, CCU has progressively consolidated its position in the community and has become an increasingly valued and well-used resource for the benefit of people living and working in the Greater Craigmillar area.The Bond has recently been extended to cover most of the East Edinburgh area.
